Dr Dave completed his training as an Endocrinologist at Groote Schuur Hospital in 2006. Since February 2007 he has been in full-time private practice at UCT Private Academic Hospital and Kingsbury Hospital. However, in September 2016, Dr Dave accepted a full-time post as a Senior Specialist in the Division of Diabetic Medicine and Endocrinology at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital but will also be continuing with limited private practice. Dr Dave will be consulting from his rooms at Rondebosch Medical Centre and UCT Private Academic Hospital.
During his clinical time in a busy academic state hospital, Dr Dave has gained experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide spectrum of simple and complex endocrine-related disorders including thyroid disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, parathyroid disease, pituitary disorders (including Cushing’s syndrome, Acromegaly, Prolactinoma’s), neuroendocrine tumours, lipid abnormalities, adrenal disorders, electrolyte abnormalities and growth problems. However, Dr Dave has a special clinical interest in thyroid disease and has been actively involved in managing patients in the Thyroid Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital and UCT Private Academic Hospital. During this time Dr Dave has seen many patients with thyroid dysfunction including hyperthyroidism (Grave’s disease, multinodular goitre, thyroiditis, single toxic nodule), drug-induced thyroid dysfunction, thyroid disease in pregnancy, hypothyroidism and thyroid cancer.
Together with colleagues in surgery, nuclear radiology and oncology Dr Dave has established a Thyroid Clinic at the UCT Private Academic Hospital.
